Punjab to distribute cash instead of setting up Ramzan bazaars

The Bank of Punjab will distribute payment orders through Pakistan Post

The Punjab government has decided to distribute cash instead of setting up Ramadan bazaars or providing ration packages this year. Sources within the Punjab Price Control and Commodities Management department confirm that a summary has been submitted requesting funds for this initiative.

According to the summary, Rs30 billion will be distributed among deserving families across the province. Each eligible family will receive Rs10,000 as a Ramadan cash package.

The Bank of Punjab will distribute payment orders through Pakistan Post to each household. Families will then deposit the payment orders at the bank to receive the cash. National Identity Card and biometric verification will be required for cash disbursement.

The summary also outlines service charges of Rs510.9 million payable to the Bank of Punjab and Rs820.5 million to Pakistan Post for their services in this initiative.

The Punjab Price Control and Commodities Management department will oversee the implementation of the Ramadan cash package program.
