The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations (SAG), originally scheduled for an in-person announcement on Wednesday morning, have been canceled due to devastating wildfires and strong winds affecting the Los Angeles area.

Instead of a live event hosted by actors Joey King and Cooper Koch, the nominations will be announced via press release.

The wildfires are currently ravaging the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles and Altadena, near Pasadena, resulting in significant destruction to homes and structures.

Kristen Bell is set to host the 31st annual SAG Awards ceremony, which will be streamed live on Netflix on February 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Last year, Idris Elba hosted the ceremony.

The SAG Awards are often seen as a key indicator for the Oscars, particularly in the acting and best picture categories.

These wildfires have also forced the cancellation of several entertainment events, including the premieres of the Robbie Williams biopic “Better Man,” Jennifer Lopez’s “Unstoppable,” and Universal Pictures’ upcoming horror film “Wolf Man.”
