Celebrated theatre producer Furqan Rizvi passes away
Syed Furqan Haider Rizvi, a prominent stage producer known for his contributions to theater in Pakistan and the United States, has passed away. He will be laid to rest in Dallas on Sunday, November 11.
Rizvi, who suffered from kidney disease, played a significant role in introducing renowned Pakistani actors Omar Sharif and Moin Akhtar to the world of theater. He produced over 250 stage plays, many of which incorporated social messages and contemporary issues.
His works spanned various languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, and Memoni. His notable productions include “Bakra Qiston Par” “Musibbat Dar Musibbat” and “Bachao Moin Akhtar” which garnered international recognition for Pakistani stage dramas.
Despite his illness, Rizvi recently produced his final stage play, “Dulha Online” in Dallas just two weeks ago, inviting numerous artists from Pakistan.
His funeral prayer will be held at the Momin Center in Dallas on Sunday, followed by his burial at the Denton Muslim Cemetery. His family has requested prayers for his forgiveness.
