The Karnataka High Court granted interim bail to Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who has been imprisoned in connection with the alleged murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor.

On October 30, the court approved his release for six weeks on medical grounds to undergo necessary spine surgery.

Darshan’s legal team presented medical reports indicating that he has been experiencing numbness in both feet, prompting the request for surgery at a private facility in Mysuru, which he will self-finance.

This temporary relief follows his petition citing health concerns.

The court stipulated that while on bail, Darshan must surrender his passport to mitigate any flight risk, a precaution requested by the Special Public Prosecutor.

He is required to submit details of his medical treatment within a week.

Darshan was arrested in June, along with others, in connection with Renukaswamy’s murder.
