Renowned actor Firdous Jamal’s wife has filed for divorce after 35 years of marriage, their son, Hamza Firdous, in a video message.

“I want to clarify that my mother has obtained a divorce from my father. No woman desires a divorce after 35 years of marriage,” he said in a video statement on Monday.

Hamza added that his mother had endured numerous hardships in hopes of improvement, but the situation never changed for the better.

He highlighted his father’s “flaws, mentioning several negative behaviours that brought distress to the family.”

Hamza claimed that despite discussions with his paternal uncles, they refused to recognise their errors and instead took sides against their own family.

The Barzakh actor opened up about the challenges his family faced while supporting their father, renowned actor Firdous Jamal, in his battle with cancer.

He claimed that they organised costly treatments out of duty as sons, expressing frustration that their father portrayed their efforts as inadequate. “It was our duty as sons, but since our father is portraying it as if we did nothing, I need to share these details,” he said.

The Seerat actor mentioned the contributions of his siblings, noting that one brother sent money for treatment, another cared for their father in the hospital, and a sister also provided “exceptional support.” Despite their efforts, he felt that their attempts seemed to have “little impact.”

He recounted a particularly distressing moment during the treatment when he fainted after witnessing his father’s wounds and underlined the emotional toll the situation took on the family as they watched those interviews.

In a recent interview, Firdous addressed questions about his feelings of isolation during his illness and his choice to live in a rundown house. He explained that after a lifetime filled with noise and chaos, he now seeks peace, which is why he prefers solitude.
