Viral optical illusion dress resurfaces at Vermont Yard sale, sparking new buzz
The infamous optical illusion dress, which sparked a legendary debate over its colors, has resurfaced once again, this time at a yard sale in Burlington, Vermont.
The woman who discovered the dress, Amanda Rubinstein was taken aback by her find. “I immediately screamed, ‘Oh my goodness, you have THE DRESS!’ I was in utter shock,” she recounted. Her reaction amused both the owners and neighbors at the sale.
The dress, designed by British brand Roman Originals, first gained notoriety in 2015 when Cecilia Bleasdale posted a picture of it ahead of her daughter Grace’s wedding.
In the photo, the dress appeared blue with black lace, but Grace insisted it looked white and gold. This discrepancy prompted Cecilia to share the image on Facebook, igniting a massive online debate about the dress’s true colors.
The controversy quickly snowballed, dividing social media users into two camps: those who saw the dress as black and blue and those who perceived it as white and gold. Celebrities, including Taylor Swift, weighed in on the debate, while experts explained the optical phenomena behind the differing perceptions.
