Two restaurants shut down in Islamabad for tax fraud
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has shut down two restaurants in Islamabad for issuing fraudulent sales receipts.
This action was taken after the Regional Tax Office identified the establishments using point-of-sale (POS) tracking software, which confirmed the issuance of counterfeit receipts.
As a consequence of their illegal activities, each restaurant has been fined Rs 500,000.
The FBR recently initiated a Point of Sale Reward Scheme aimed at enhancing tax compliance among tier 1 retailers and restaurants in Islamabad.
This program, launched on October 25, encourages citizens to report fake invoices, with plans to expand nationwide next month.
