EasyPaisa clears air over reports of accounts being blocked

EasyPaisa has cleared the air over claims of blocking the accounts which are accounts not linked to users’ mobile phone numbers and CNIC (National Identity Card) numbers will be blocked by the central bank.

The company says that EasyPaisa accounts are not being blocked based on this criterion, and there has been no official statement from the central bank to support these assertions.

The Net Shell Communications Private Limited Member Director, Khurram Zia, which manages public relations for EasyPaisa, has publicly denied the claims, labeling them as misinformation. He shared an official statement from EasyPaisa refuting the allegations.

The company took to their official X and Facebook accounts, stating that rumors regarding account closures and service disruptions are completely unfounded.

The platform reassured users that all EasyPaisa accounts remain fully operational and that services continue without interruption.

These claims originated from a post on X (formerly Twitter) on September 30, which warned account holders that, per the State Bank’s directives, failure to link their accounts would result in them being blocked by September 30, 2024. The post encouraged users to share the information widely, leading to over 12,000 views and 60 reposts.
