Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly poisoning 13 individuals in the village of Haibat Brohi, Pir Goth in Khairpur district, Sindh following a refusal to arrange a marriage.

The suspects Shaista and Amir Bakhsh were arrested after confessing to mixing poison in flour due to a marriage proposal rejection. The police have indicated that their investigation is ongoing, with the promise that anyone else involved will also face arrest.

The local authorities had established a medical board to investigate the cause. A report from the board, released ten days ago, revealed that the victims had been poisoned, prompting police to launch a detailed investigation under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur, Dr. Samiullah Soomro.

The fatalities occurred after the victims consumed a meal that led to severe health complications, prompting their immediate transfer to the Civil Hospital in Khairpur. Despite medical efforts, all 13 family members succumbed to their condition.
