Police reveal how Daska woman was murdered, dismembered by mother-in-law and accomplices

Police have arrested the victim's mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and Naveed

Police in Daska Tehsil, Sialkot have concluded their investigation into the murder of a woman, identifying her mother-in-law, Sughran Bibi’s, relative, Naveed, as the main perpetrator.

The investigation began after a missing person’s report was filed by the victim’s father several months ago. The investigation revealed that the victim’s mother-in-law, her sister-in-law Yasmeen, her sister-in-law’s son, and Naveed, a relative from Lahore, were all involved in the murder, dismemberment, and disposal of the body.

Police have arrested the victim’s mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and Naveed. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation. The murder weapon and two of the victim’s mobile phones have been recovered.

According to the investigation, Zara, the daughter of a Gujranwala-based ASI Shabir Ahmed, married her cousin Qadeer four years ago. After their marriage, Qadeer took Zara to Saudi Arabia. Their son, Shafaq, was born about two and a half years ago. Disputes arose between Zara and her mother-in-law after Qadeer started depositing all his earnings into Zara’s account.

Sughran initially attempted to get Zara divorced by accusing her of misconduct. Upon failing, she plotted the murder with her daughter Yasmeen.

When Zara returned to Pakistan a month and a half ago, Sughran and Yasmeen enlisted the help of Naveed, promising to send him to Italy.

The accused murdered Zara by suffocating her with a pillow, then dismembered her body. They burned her face to hinder identification. Naveed then transported the body parts in five sacks to Lahore. Sughran, with the help of her daughter and grandson, disposed of the body parts in a drain.

Zara’s father reported her missing to the police. Interrogation of the accused’s grandson led to the confession and the unraveling of the entire crime.
