Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding areas have experienced continuous rainfall since yesterday, bringing a welcome respite from the heat to the twin cities. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more stormy weather for Islamabad today, predicting thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rain, with hail in some areas.

Rain has fallen intermittently in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Taxila since late last night, creating pleasant weather conditions. However, the heavy downpour in the twin cities and surrounding areas has led to waterlogging in several streets and roads, and reports of fallen trees have emerged.

Over 120 millimeters of rain has been recorded in the twin cities so far. The downpour has caused over 40 feeders to trip, resulting in power outages in numerous areas. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and other relevant agencies are on high alert to manage any emergencies.

The PMD predicts thunderstorms and rain accompanied by gusty winds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern and central Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Heavy rain and hail are expected in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, and Kashmir. The rest of the country is expected to experience hot and humid weather.

The National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a warning of strong winds and thunderstorms in several areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir from September 26th to October 1st, 2024.

Intermittent rainfall is also predicted for some areas of Sindh from September 26th to 28th, 2024.

The Meteorological Department reports that the Karachi’s temperature could rise to 36°C, with a minimum temperature recorded at 27.8°C.

The expected maximum temperature ranges between 34°C and 36°C.

Humidity levels are at 78%, and winds are blowing from the west at a speed of 14 km/h.
