PMD predicts new wave of rainfall this week

Thunderstorms predicted in Sindh

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that a new round of rains will begin in the country on April 16 and will last till April 22.

In Sindh, rain and thunderstorm has been forecasted in areas including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro and Sanghar from April 17 to 19.

Rain winds and thunderstorms has been predicted in Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Chagi, Kharan, Awaran, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Kalat, Noushki, Mastung, Jhal Magsi, Naseerabad, Sibbi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Loralai, Harnai, Qilla Saifullah, Mastung, Ziarat, Shirani, Zhob, Musa Khel and Barkhan from April 16 to 19.

In KP, snowfall is expected from April 17 to 21 in areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner and Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram.

In Gilgit-Baltitstan, areas including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar can anticipate rain, thunderstorms and snowfalls from April 18 to 22.

Kashmir areas such as Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur will foresee rain, thunderstorms and snowfalls from April 18 to 22.

From April 18 to 21, areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal can experience rain winds and thunderstorms with hailstorms.

While, in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar will see rain winds and thunderstorms with hailstorms from April 18 to 20.

PMD has forecasted flash flooding due to heavy rainfall in areas of Balochistan including Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Kalat and Khuzdar) from April 17 and 18, while areas like Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Manshera, Tributaries of Kabul River, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir will see from April 18 to 20.

There is also possibility of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

PMD has suggested farmers to manage their crops according to weather conditions.

Tourists are instructed to avoid unessential traveling by the National Disaster Management Authority.

During the period of rainfall, it is likely that temperatures will decrease by several degrees.
