Sindh CM Murad calls for probe into underaged girls marriage in Dadu
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered an inquiry into the reported cases of child marriages in Dadu, driven by poverty.
The CM took notice of reports that 45 young girls were married off in exchange for money in Khan Muhammad Malgoth.
CM Shah has directed the Commissioner of Hyderabad to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter and submit a report. Shah ordered that the report should include social, economic, and legal reasons behind these marriages and the inquiry committee should also investigate whether the girls were from flood-affected families and if so, what kind of assistance they received.
The report should also detail the current situation of the girls who were married off, the CM ordered.
