Punjab government to establish first specialized cancer hospital with 150 beds in initial phase

The Punjab government is preparing to establish its first specialized cancer hospital, the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital.

The initial phase of the project will feature 150 beds, including 100 beds for adults and 50 for children, along with dedicated facilities for chemotherapy.

The first phase of the hospital, which will cover an area of 333 kanal, is expected to cost Rs. 3.26 billion.

The Infrastructure Development and Economic Planning (IDEP) will manage the project and has called for applications from private contractors to undertake the construction.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently laid the foundation stone of the Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad, which will feature advanced medical facilities designed to treat complex conditions, including diseases of the lungs, heart, kidneys, and cancer.

The medical complex, spanning approximately 800 kanal, will also include modern laboratories, nursing schools, and an air ambulance service to quickly transport critical cases.

The Prime Minister stated that the Jinnah Medical Complex will provide free treatment to underprivileged patients, further enhancing access to quality healthcare in the country.

The establishment of these specialized medical facilities highlights the Punjab government’s commitment to improving cancer treatment and overall healthcare services for the people of Pakistan.
