PTI’s supporter Sanam Javed got temporary relief on Monday after the Islamabad High Court allowed her to go home and barred the federal capital police from arresting her till Thursday.

A single-judge bench led by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb directed the PTI supporter to remain quiet or else the all the orders would be revoked.

The judge while hearing a petition filed by Sanam’s father ordered the federal capital police to submit past one year record against Sanam.

When the hearing resumed after the police brought her in court, Sanam’s lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq said police have no complaint against his client.

The judge asked was Sanam taken into custody. To this, the lawyer replied his client was detained from outside his office.

On Sunday, she was rearrested shortly after being discharged from a new case. Her husband, Attique Riaz, had said they would face all the legal cases as they have not violated the Constitution.

Earlier in the day, the court directed police to present the PTI supporter in court by 5:30pm and barred authorities from taking her out of Islamabad.

The court had also summoned the Islamabad inspector general of police and the FIA director general.

Sanam Javed’s lawyer argued in court that his client had been “illegally arrested” from the lawyer’s office. The magistrate had ordered her release from the case the previous day.

Javed was re-arrested on Sunday shortly after being discharged from a new case in Islamabad.

The court inquired if the additional attorney general was present. Lawyer Ashfaq continued his arguments, stating that Sanam was “unlawfully detained” and the FIA’s decision to discharge her was challenged in the district and sessions court.

In his petition, Sanam’s father sought his daughter’s release. He claimed that Sanam was “unlawfully detained.”

The petition called for the details of the cases against Sanam to be provided and for any further proceedings on such cases to be halted. It named the federal government, FIA, Islamabad IGP, and others as respondents, requesting the court to declare Sanam’s detention or abduction “illegal.”
