Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 – banning gathering of more than five people – across the province given security concerns during Muharram.

Also, pillion riding will be banned from the 7 to 10 of Muharram.

Section 144 will be imposed on the statement that promotes inter-sectarian, inter-faith, or racial hatred.

The construction of barricades on buildings’ rooftops that are present in the routes of the processions will be not allowed.

Punjab government has also prohibited stones, bricks, bottles, or trash and weapons and flammable materials during the procession.

Elderly citizens, women, and law enforcement personnel will be exempted from the ban on pillion riding.
