Drone cameras banned in Karachi during Muharram possessions

The Sindh Home Department has announced a ban on the use of drone cameras on 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th Muharram-ul-Haram for Muharram processions.

Ashura, 10th Muharram-ul-Haram will be observed on July 29.

The ban has been imposed under Section 144 “to avoid any untoward incidents as well as best interest of safety and security of participants/mourners”, the notification said.

All kinds of coverage and recording by drone cameras will not be allowed.

Further, the police have been directed to take action against those violating the ban during the possession.

“In pursuance of Section 195 (i)(a) Cr.P.C, the S.H.Os of concerned Police Stations are hereby authorized to register complaints under Section 188 PPC in writing for violation of Section 144 Cr.P.C against the violators of this notification,” the notification stated.
