Veteran actor and artist Jamal Shah has said that it was wrong to perceive that art was apolitical, citing that the creative field allows people to be critical of things.

“There are possibilities that I would join a party, but after watching it closely, I saw that they lacked democracy and dialogue to promote opinion,” he said while appearing on Aaj News show Rubaroo.

Actor Laila Zuberi and singer Abrarul Haq were also part of the show.

Shah lamented that the political parties lack critical engagement.

Laila claimed that several parties made her offer to join them but she refused because they were being operated on the principle of hatred. “This thing makes you nervous as if we will limit our fans,” she said.

Abrar spoke in the same wavelength, saying that joining a political party splits the fan base. He claimed that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari made him an offer to join the party which he refused.
