What is Punjab CM Maryam’s ‘Skills on Wheel Project’?
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the ‘Skills on Wheel Project,’ aimed at exporting skilled manpower abroad.
While presiding over a meeting on Wednesday, she set a target of training and securing job placements for 100,000 youth and directed officials to develop a comprehensive plan for sending skilled professionals abroad.
Moreover, the Punjab chief minister announced new programmes to help young people gain skills and find jobs, including the creation of Plug and Play Call Centres.
In the first phase, 5,000 young individuals will receive training for call centre jobs through a partnership with IBEX. After completing a six-week training course, they could earn Rs100,000 per month.
There’s also a plan to introduce a ‘Skilled Card’ for those who complete their training. Moreover, 480 women would receive training in the garment industry at the Garment Training Institute in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park. They would get pick-and-drop services and a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000, along with help finding jobs in leading textile companies.
