PM Shehbaz approves training programmes for youth employment
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a comprehensive plan to provide young Pakistanis with vocational training tailored to industry demands.
He will personally oversee the program’s implementation and chair monthly review meetings to ensure its success.
Bridging the skills gap
During a high-level meeting on the National Youth Employment Plan, PM Shehbaz directed authorities to maintain close collaboration with local industries and international labour markets to align training programs with workforce demand.
He also called for the creation of a comprehensive database to track required skills across industries.

“Pakistan’s youth are our most valuable asset. By equipping them with professional training and market-relevant skills, we are empowering them with employment opportunities — both locally and globally,” the prime minister stated.
Ambitious employment targets
Officials briefed the PM that over the next four years, between 2.4 million to 6 million youth annually will be provided with vocational training, facilitating their entry into the job market. The strategy prioritises both domestic and international employment opportunities by aligning training programs with global workforce needs.
Launch of Digital Youth Hub
The meeting also revealed that the Digital Youth Hub, a key initiative to streamline youth employment and training resources, is in its final stages and will be launched this month.
PM Shehbaz lauded the efforts of all relevant ministries and institutions involved in the initiative.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, and other senior officials.
