PM Shehbaz orders swift implementation of agreements signed with Azerbaijan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the swift implementation of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed during his recent visit to Azerbaijan.
Chairing a review meeting, the prime minister instructed the Ministry of Commerce to present a comprehensive plan to increase trade volume between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to $2 billion.
To facilitate investment, PM Shehbaz has formed a committee under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The committee will ensure preparedness for agreements in energy and infrastructure sectors, following Azerbaijan’s announcement of a $2 billion investment in Pakistan.

Ahead of the Azerbaijani president’s expected visit to Pakistan next month, the prime minister emphasised the need for all necessary preparations to be completed on a priority basis.
He also directed the appointment of trade officers in countries, including Azerbaijan, where Pakistan holds significant trade potential.
Speaking at the meeting, PM Shehbaz highlighted the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, spanning decades.
He underscored Pakistan’s commitment to leveraging trade and investment opportunities with Central Asian states through priority measures.
Officials briefed the prime minister on the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Business Forum held in Baku, which saw participation from 83 Pakistani and 101 Azerbaijani companies.
During the visit, Pakistan and Azerbaijan signed 13 MoUs and agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, the meeting was informed.
The session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Jam Kamal Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan, Dr Musadik Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.
