Veteran actress Rubina Ashraf has expressed immense pride in her career-defining role as a police officer, calling it a historic milestone.

Speaking on Aaj Television Network’s grand Ramazan Iftar transmission “Baran-e-Rehmat”, Rubina Ashraf praised the show and shared her fondness for watching it.

Reflecting on her police officer role, she said, “It was an evergreen character. Kids who watched it back then—often staying up late and getting scolded by their parents—still tell me it’s one of their favorite childhood memories.”

She emphasised that it was the first and only female-led police officer role on Pakistani television, unlike previous male-dominated dramas like Andhera Ujala.

“For me, it was a groundbreaking role, and I deeply admire those who conceptualized and created it,” she added.

When asked about her preference for positive or negative roles, Rubina Ashraf smiled and admitted that she prefers positive characters.

However, she lamented that “nowadays, scripts mostly feature negative roles, especially for senior actors like us.”

Inspiring Hajj experience

Sharing a remarkable experience from her Hajj journey, Rubina Ashraf recounted that after performing Hajj once, she felt an intense desire to go again. However, she was advised to help someone else fulfill their pilgrimage instead.

She recalled an incident from a morning show where a woman approached her, expressing a deep longing to perform Hajj.

“I told her to arrange everything, and I would bear the expenses,” Rubina said. However, due to “Mahram” restrictions, the woman was unable to go for Hajj and opted for Umrah instead.

Rubina reflected on this moment, saying, “Sometimes, we plan, but the ultimate decision is in Allah’s hands. This realisation made me surrender to His will.”

She also shared how, despite her husband and daughter’s insistence on going for Hajj again, she initially hesitated, thinking of others who might need it more.

However, a sudden realisation struck her —“Why should I decide? There’s a higher power that accepts or denies efforts.”
