Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that the recent attack on Chinese citizens in Besham, Pakistan, was carried out using Afghan territory.

Speaking to the media alongside officials from the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in Lahore, Naqvi stated that the attack raised serious concerns for Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of Pakistan-China cooperation, particularly in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

“We are certain that China is working for the betterment of both our countries,” Naqvi said.

The minister confirmed that the attackers specifically targeted Chinese security personnel, suggesting a planned attack. He revealed that Pakistan has raised the issue with the Afghan interim government but has yet to receive any positive response.

Naqvi further stated that Pakistan has increased security along its borders, acknowledging the involvement of external forces seeking to destabilize Pakistan. He highlighted the exploitation of the Afghan government’s weakness by these forces, allowing terrorist groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to operate in border areas.
