Vote counting underway in NA-148

PTI's Taimur Malik is competing against PPP's Ali Gilani

The counting of votes is underway in the by-elections for the National Assembly constituency NA-148 in Multan, and the process of announcing the unofficial and non-governmental results from various polling stations has begun.

According to the unofficial and non-governmental results from 250 out of 275 polling stations in NA-148, Ali Qasim Gillani of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is leading with a clear majority.

Ali Qasim Gillani, representing the Pakistan People’s Party, has secured 78,270 votes, while Taimur Tariq Malik of the Sunni Ittehad Council is in second place with 47,793 votes.

Earlier, the polling process for the by-elections in NA-148 began at 8 am and continued without interruption until 5 pm.

A total of seven candidates participated in the by-elections for NA-148 in Multan. However, the fiercest competition was expected between Ali Qasim Gillani, the candidate supported by the ruling alliance, and Taimur Tariq Malik, the candidate supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Sunni Ittehad Council.

A total of 444,231 voters exercised their right to vote in the constituency, with 233,624 male voters and 210,607 female voters.

According to the Election Commission, a total of 275 polling stations were set up for the by-elections in the constituency, with 72 polling stations designated for female voters, 72 for male voters, and 131 polling stations shared by both.
