Comedian Shafaat Ali reveals being locked by host Aftab Iqbal
Renowned Pakistani comedian Shafaat Ali has disclosed an incident involving him and Pakistani TV host Aftab Iqbal.
According to Ali, the incident took place in November 2016 when Aftab Iqbal wanted him to participate in his show, despite Ali declining the offer multiple times.
The reason for his refusal was his mother’s disapproval of working with Aftab Iqbal.
Shafaat Ali shared that his mother expressed her reservations about him collaborating with Aftab Iqbal, stating that she did not have a favorable opinion of him.
Ali sent Iqbal a message declining the offer to be part of his show.
However, Aftab Iqbal insisted that Ali sign a contract brought by his associate producer when he refused to comply with their demands.
Subsequently, Ali found himself locked inside a room for more than two hours.
When Ali was locked in the room, he reached out to senior journalist Saleem Safi for assistance.
With Safi’s intervention, the room was finally unlocked, and Ali made his way out.
This incident led to strained relations between Ali and Aftab Iqbal who even boycotted his shows.
Iqbal responded to Shafaat Ali’s allegations by making light of the situation, claiming that there were two rooms with reception during that time, and it was beyond comprehension that someone could be forcibly confined in either of them.
Aftab Iqbal also mentioned that the disagreement stemmed from financial matters related to the show.
