A leading show on Netflix, The Great Indian Kapil Show is experiencing a decline in viewership after airing four episodes over a month, according to data provided by Netflix.

The show was launched to lure a new audience in India and generated significant anticipation due to the long-awaited reunion of host Kapil Sharma and his colleague Sunil Grover.

Despite a star-studded guest list including celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Diljit Dosanjh, and Rohit Sharma, the viewership of the show seems to be decreasing.

The first episode, featuring Ranbir Kapoor along with his mother Neetu Kapoor, and Sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, garnered 2.4 million viewership hours and secured the third position on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list for that week, accumulating a total of 2.5 million views.

By the end of the second week, with the release of another episode, the total viewership hours increased to 4.6 million, while the total views reached 2.6 million.

The show slipped to the fifth spot in the second week as more episodes were released.

In the third week, The Great Indian Kapil Show had further dropped in the rankings to the seventh spot, with 4.1 million viewership hours and 1.7 million total views.

At the end of its first month, the show’s total weekly viewership hours decreased to 3.9 million, and it slipped to the eighth spot with just 1.2 million total views.

The viewership declined by exactly 50%; however, this show remained the number-one series in India every week since its debut.

The show is not Kapil Sharma’s first project on Netflix as he started his journey in 2022, with his debut stand-up special titled “Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet,” which did not make it to the global top 10 rankings.

The series “Maamla Legal Hai” debuted with 4.8 million hours viewed and 1.1 million total views.

On YouTube, full episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show – the original TV show — have achieved remarkable numbers, with an episode uploaded by SET India on May 16, 2016, amassing 52 million views.
