The fees set for applications for permanent residence in Canada will increase by 12 per cent from April 30, according to Canada’s Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).

The fee increase follows Canadian regulations, which link adjustments to the Consumer Price Index for Canada. The fee for obtaining permanent residence will increase from $515 to $575 from the end of this month.

This fee is paid when an applicant applies for permanent residence, similar to obtaining a green card in the United States. It further paves the way for possible Canadian citizenship.

The North American country has waived the fee for dependent children accompanying applicants seeking permanent residence.

The Canadian authorities have further revealed that the costs for various immigration flows are also increasing.
