ECP won’t issue directives to interior ministry on internet service: CEC
Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja has said that the Election Commission of Pakistan would not issue any directives on internet services.
“Assessing security situation is the job of interior ministry and agencies,” Raja told reporters in Islamabad on Thursday.
“Who would be responsible if a terrorist incident occurs if call for restoring the internet service and any terrorist incident occurs,” Raja said.
He expressed hope that elections would be held peacefully a day after two blasts rocked two cities in Balochistan.
On voters facing hurdles in accessing the 8300 messaging service, he said that the people should have checked the service before the election day.
“Was it necessary to look for 8300 [service] today?” he inquired saying that the people should have checked their vote the day ECP issued the election scheme.
