Six former CMs to participate in elections in KP
General elections will showcase plenty of new faces across Pakistan who will try to reach legislatures for the first time. The election also has its fair share of veterans returning to the polls after being elected multiple times.
However, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six of the province’s former chief ministers will by vying for attention from voters.
Veteran politican Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao is set to contest from Charsadda’s NA-24 while Awami National Party leader Haider Hoti will contest from NA-22.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s estranged leader Mehtab Abbasi will contest from Abottabad on NA-6.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Pervez Khattak will be contesting the election from Nowshera’s NA-33, PK-87 and PK-88.
Another former PTI leader, Mahmood Khan, is contesting the election from Swat’s NA-4.
Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam’s Akram Durrani, who has served as both chief minister and opposition leader, is a candidate in PK-100.
