LHC orders Pindi police to produce Sheikh Rashid or face consequences

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench asked the city police to submit a report regarding former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid within seven days.

A hearing was held on the petition filed against the detention of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid.

The court asked Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khurram Ali to submit a report regarding former interior minister arrest and also inquired about other two persons arrested with him.

The police told the court that Sheikh Rashid’s nephew and employee had returned.

Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer told the court that former minister was arrested from his house and transferred to the intelligence office in Golra, there are also videos of him being transferred.

RPO Rawalpindi asked the court for another 15 days.

The court rejected the report of the RPO and remarked that the RP has crossed the limit, Shaikh Rashid should be produced in the court by next week, otherwise a case will be registered against the SSP Operations, DSP, four SHOs. .

The court adjourned the hearing of the case for a week.
