UK’s Crown Prosecution Service on Friday charged Urfan Sharif, his wife Beinash Batool and brother Faisal Malik with the murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif who was found dead at her home in Woking, Surrey, UK, Daily Mail reported.

The three suspects were also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

The British authorities arrested the three suspects on September 13 at Gatwick Airport after they landed in the UK from Pakistan via Dubai. They were remanded in custody.

The father, stepmother and uncle of a 10-year-old girl appeared in court in the UK charged with her murder, AFP reported. The three appeared in the dock at a magistrates’ court in Guildford, southern England, flanked by police officers.

They spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses.

All three have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, Surrey Police said earlier in a statement.

No pleas to any of the charges were entered during the short hearing.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram remanded the defendants in custody. Their next court appearance will be at London’s Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Sara’s lifeless body was discovered at her Woking home on August 10.

Sharif, Batool and Malik fled to Pakistan with five children a day before Sara’s body was discovered. The trio was on the run for a month in the country. Police in Pakistan arrested them on September 13 and handed them over to the British authorities.

Surrey Police officers arrested the trio and took them into custody for questioning.

Detective Superintendent Mark Chapman, from the Surrey Police and Sussex Police Major Crime Team, previously expressed heartfelt condolences following Sara’s tragic death.

“Our thoughts are with her mother at this difficult time. We also fully appreciate the impact this devastating incident will have had within the local community,” he added.

Around a month ago, Sharif arrived in Pakistan and called 999 in the UK to report that his daughter was dead at his home in Horsell, near Woking.

A post-mortem examination found she had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries” over a “sustained and extended” period of time.

While the UK authorities began an investigation, the trio along with five children were hiding in Pakistan.

Later, a video statement was sent to the BBC, in which Sarah’s father remained silent, but Batool claimed that the police were harassing the couple’s family, illegally detaining them, and raiding their house. The British publication stated that they were unable to verify the account.
