Holy Quran desecrated in Sweden amid heavy police presence
A copy of the Holy Quran was desecrated for the second time in a matter of week in front of the Royal Palace in Sweden while police guarded the site, Al Jazeera reported.
Several people in the crowd brought their own megaphones, and the two men, who desecrated the Quran were largely drowned out by counterprotesters.
A group wearing firefighter-themed outfits was also present in the crowd whose members chanted “extinguish the hate” while encouraging onlookers to speak into their megaphones.
Those granted permission to desecrate the Quran by the Swedish authorities were allocated a one-hour slot, after which the police allow people to collect pages of the holy Quran.
Several men rushed to pick up the pages from the ground and from the walls leading to the Royal Palace.
Former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said that such incidents establish that there is a vile, sinister and evil intention behind them that aims at hurting the emotions of Muslims around the world.
“Yet another incident of the desecration of the Holy Quran, this time in front of the royal palace in Sweden is highly disturbing,” he wrote on X.
He also regretted the lack of action by the Swedish government to stop such acts.

“Equally disturbing is the lack of action on the part of Swedish government to check such incidents through strict enforcement of law. Mere expression of regret and condemnation is not enough,” he stated.
A group of anti-Islam activists desecrated the Holy Quran on July 26 in front of the Egyptian and Turkish embassies in Copenhagen enraging Muslims around the world.
