Religious leader shot dead in Karachi, father and aide injured in attack
In a shocking act of violence, unidentified gunmen opened fire at a shop in Sherpao Colony, Quaidabad, killing Qari Abdul Rehman, the president of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) Sherpao Landhi. His father and an associate were critically injured.
Attack caught on CCTV
According to police, two masked assailants entered the shop and fired directly at Qari Abdul Rehman, leaving him gravely wounded. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The injured, identified as Gul Rehman (father) and Shakir (associate), were rushed to the hospital.
Possible targeted killing
Police officials suspect the attack was a case of targeted killing, based on initial investigations and CCTV footage. The footage shows the attackers wearing masks to conceal their identities while carrying out the shooting.
Protest erupts outside hospital
Following the killing, ASWJ workers staged a protest outside Jinnah Hospital, placing the deceased’s body on the road and blocking traffic. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are investigating the incident from multiple angles.
