PDM leaders agree to appoint caretaker PM from small province
Leaders of the multi-party alliance agreed on Friday that the next caretaker prime minister should be appointed with consensus from one of the smaller provinces.
The heads and leaders of the parties in the coalition started arriving at the Prime Minister’s house where PM Shehbaz hosted a dinner to discuss the names of the caretaker prime minister
The head of the PDM coalition Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Bilawal Bhutto, Aftab Sherpao, Aslam Bhootani and Ameer Haider Hoti arrived at the PM house.
Outgoing Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and JUI-F’s Maulana Asad Mehmood also reached the PM house.
Earlier, outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent invitations to Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday for the appointment of a caretaker prime minister. He has also summoned a meeting of the PDM and parties that were part of a coalition government.
PM Shehbaz Sharif has also Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Khalid Magsi, Sajid Mir, Owais Noorani, Sajid Ali Khan, Aimal Wali Khan, Abdul Malik Baloch, Aftab Sherpao and other members of alliance parties on dinner, sources told Aaj News.
They added that the prime minister would continue consultations with Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Raja Riaz on Friday (today) for the caretaker cabinet. It’s a second day for deliberation.
Separation from consultation process
PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar said in an informal talk with journalists that he has separated himself from the process of consultation over the caretaker prime minister.
“Nullification of review and judgement act was not a problem. PML-N will make political and legal strategies about the court ruling and discuss this with legal experts. While the decision regarding ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s returns will be taken after discussion,” he added.
