A female education officer of a government girls primary school was stabbed to death by her husband in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Landi Kotal on Saturday, said the police.

“The police got a call early in the morning from the security guard of the school, Murad Ali, at the Mir Khel regarding the murder,” Landi Kotal police station’s SHO Ibrahim Shinwari told Aaj Digital.

At 7:15am, the police arrived at the crime scene, where they found the body of a female named Rizwana in the residential quarters of the school. “The police found stab wounds on the deceased’s back and other parts of the body.”

The slain officer’s husband Najeeb Ullah was arrested from the Domail area of Bannu. He confessed to his crime in the initial investigations, the police claimed.

It merits here to mention that the family of Najeeb handed over him to the police.

The slain officer had shifted to the quarters two months ago, where she was living with her husband, who was unemployed, said school gatekeeper Murad Ali in his statement to the police. They have four children between the age of six and seven years.

He said that the school’s door was closed when he arrived at the school on the morning of the fateful day. “After opening the gate, I repeatedly called Najeeb, however, no one answered. When I went inside the quarters, I found Rizwana laying on the ground with stab wounds on her back.”

Rizwana did not like him staying overnight at the school and asked him to return home in the night, the gatekeeper claimed.

Najeeb was unemployed and stayed at home all the time and would not socialize with people, said Ali.

A close friend, who wanted not to be named, of Najeeb said that his behaviour had changed after fighting tuberculosis for five years. Najeeb was a “well-educated individual and had worked” at Working Focus Grammer School.

“But he became abnormal in the preceding years and would continuously fight his wife and had attempted to take his own life before, in which he was seriously injured,” he added.

Later on Saturday, Rizwana’s funeral was held in Domail where a large number of people were present.

Rizwana belonged to the Bannu district. Prior to her transfer to Landi Kotal, she was working in Swat. She was working as an assistant sub-division education officer female of Landi Kotal.
