Supreme Court entertains govt petition against CJP, two judges
The Supreme Court of Pakistan adjourned on Wednesday the hearing of petitions against the formation of Justice Faez Isa-led commission to probe audio leaks.
The court met briefly and adjourned for a week.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said more petition had been filed before the court on the same issue.
One of the petition is from the government which has sought the recusal of three judges – CJP Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar – from the bench.
The chief justice said that the court would first hear the petition from the government when it meets next week.
The development coincides with the Supreme Judicial Council — the top body for the accountability of judges – starting proceedings against Justice Mazaahir Naqvi who faces serious allegations.
