The accused, who had tricked the blind Muezzin and robbed his mobile, returned the device via the rider of a ride-hailing service on Thursday.

He returned the mobile phone in panic after the news was widely covered across the media.

The bike rider said in his video message that a person named Hassan Liaquat booked a ride from Gulshan Iqbal late at night, and asked him to deliver the mobile to Qari Amjad at Jamia Darul Hadi.

“I came to know about the incident upon returning the mobile to the Muezzin,” he said.

The shocking robbery took place in Karachi’s Gulestan-e-Johar area on Wednesday.

In a video message on Wednesday, Hafiz Amjad said that a named Hasan came to him and asked about his occupation. “He [Hasan] asked me to recite Naat and said he is going to make a video and viral it on YouTube.”

He further said that the accused asked him to make a video from his own mobile. “So I gave the mobile to the person and started reciting Naat, but when he finished, the person had escaped with my mobile.”

Amjad said that he had his CNIC and some cash in his mobile case.
