PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry announced on Tuesday that former First Lady Bushra Bibi will file a case against Maryam Nawaz over corruption allegations.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Fawad Chaudhry said that Maryam Nawaz had accused Bushra Bibi of taking bribes to get files signed when her husband Imran Khan was prime minister.

Fawad said that the allegations were baseless as Bushra had never held any public office and never been involved in political activities. He added that Bushra will serve Maryam a legal notice for damaging her reputation.

Maryam Nawaz and other PMLN leaders have frequently targeted the former first lady with corruption allegations. Criticism against Bushra had also been based on corruption cases against Farah Gogi, who is known to be her friend.

Election talks

Fawad also said that PMLN’s internal politics were harming the negotiation process over elections which was trying to find a solution to the political impasse in the country.

He said this in response to multiple ministers including Khawaja Asif and Javed Latif who have said that talks with PTI over elections are ‘pointless’.

Fawad also said that the Supreme Court decision to hold elections on May 14 would have to be implemented, otherwise PTi could call for a long march.

He also attacked the chief election commissioner for bringing disgrace to his institution and said that reference would be filed for his removal.
