Operation to stop terrorists entering from Afghanistan underway

One terrorist has been killed and one soldier martyred, operation has been active for 96 hours

After two terror attacks in the same week in different parts of the country, an operation was conducted to deny terrorists a route between Pakistan and Afghanistan according to a statement by the military.

The operation has been active for the last 96 hours, one terrorist has been killed while one soldier has been martyred.

“Based on credible intelligence, an Operation has been initiated in Sambaza area of Zhob, Balochistan for last 96 hours to deny terrorists use of few suspected routes to move across Pakistan-Afghanistan Border to sneak into KP along interprovincial boundary and target citizens and security forces,” a statement from ISPR said.

ISPR said that a group of the terrorists was intercepted in early hours on Sunday during a surveillance operation. The terrorists opened fire onto the security forces when their exit routes were blocked.

One terrorist was killed In the heavy fire that was exchanged. Sepoy Haq Nawaz embraced shahadat and two other soldiers got injured.

“The terrorists were supported by their facilitators from across the border as well through fire,” ISPR said.

Even after the exchange of fire ended, security forces continued an operation in search of remaining terrorists.

It is worth mentioning that a key demand made by terrorists during the Bannu CTC Center terror attack was to be provided safe passage into Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto also mentioned the issue in his visit to the US, saying that Afghanistan must prevent its soil from being used as a base to attack Pakistan.
