Dua Bhutto files for divorce from PTI’s Haleem Adil Sheikh

Asks for Rs700,000 a month in maintenance

KARACHI: A family court in Karachi Monday issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh for November 29 in MPA Dua Bhutto divorce case.

Dua Bhutto had filed a petition in the court seeking divorce from her husband Haleem Adil Sheikh and financial assistance from him for their child.

She had demanded Rs700,000 per month under the head of expenses and Rs200,000 per month separately for rent and other household expenses.

Dua Bhutto had pleaded with the court to grant her custody of their child and guardianship. She had demanded that she should be allowed to take her child freely inside and outside the country.

Earlier, Bhutto gone to the Malir family court to file for khula [separation]. She stated in her plea that she does not want to live with Sheikh anymore for many reasons.

On the other hand, Haleem Adil Sheikh described Bhutto’s decision as revengeful action against him. He said that he cannot imagine that his wife would seek divorce. He added that Bhutto was seemingly forced to take the decision.

The couple married in 2018, and she declared the marriage in September 2021 by sharing pictures with her son on social media.
