As bodies turn up, Rana Sanaullah assures MQM-P of ‘missing persons’ recovery
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday said that the bodies of “missing” Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan workers were found which humiliated Pakistan globally, adding that MQM’s grievances needed to be addressed.
“Issue of the missing persons causes humiliation to Pakistan,” the interior minister said while addressing a joint press conference with the MQM-P leadership in their Bahadurabad office on Tuesday.
Sanaullah said that it was the state’s responsibility to recover the missing persons. “The government will do anything in its power to resolve the issue,” he added.
Earlier this month, bodies of four MQM workers, who had gone “missing” in Karachi years ago, were found in different parts of Sindh.
The MQM-P, which is a part of the ruling coalition, expressed concerns over the killings of four “missing” persons.
The MQM-P deputy convener and former Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar had warned that the party might withdraw support to the federal government if their missing workers were not recovered.
“We entered into an agreement with three big political parties, but we are still finding the bodies of our missing workers,” he said after their bodies were found from different parts of Sindh.
Addressing the joint presser today, MQM-P leader, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, said that they wanted their “missing” loved ones to be recovered, adding that the enforced disappearance was not the practice of any society.
Following the interior minister’s visit to the MQM-P office, two workers, missing since 2015, were found. The recovered persons were identified as Riasat and Tahir.
Sources say that the recovered workers belong to Aligarh town, adding that MQM has given the list of 100 missing workers to the interior minister.
