Imran Khan yet again tells supporters to be ready to take to the streets

PTI chief says transparent elections only way to steer country ouf of crisis

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan reiterated on Saturday his demand for early elections, saying transparency in polls was the only to get the country out of the current crisis.

The former prime minister said this while addressing a public gathering in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Let change come through vote or face dire consequences,” Imran said in another warning to the government and its so-called backers.

“I will give a call that you have to come out for real freedom. It is only through real freedom that we will become a great nation,” said Imran, who has been leading an anti-government agitation against the PML-N led coalition government ever since his ouster in a parliamentary process in April.

He repeated his claims that the current government came to power through a conspiracy, while accusing incumbent premier Shehbaz Sharif of being the puppet of foriegn powers.

He also lashed out at Shehbaz’s decision to attend the Queen’s funeral in the UK, saying Pakistan was broke and desperate for assistance for its flood victims.

He also criticised Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz’s elder brother who is also in the UK, saying he had acquiesced to the demands of American rulers in the past. “These people have shamed the nation in front of the world. The time will come when Pakistanis will walk proudly in the world.”
