It’s what iPhone users wanted. Customizable homescreen, scheduling emails, and shared photo libraries are some of the features that will be available with the latest software update in the operating system, iOS 16.

There is much more for people who like to text – iMessage section, BuzzFeed News reported. Users can mark texts as “unread” if they want to see them later. They can also “undo send” or edit messages, ending the anxiety over using a wrong window or typo errors or unwanted emojis.

How to use it? Press and hold down on the just-sent message (similar to reacting with a “like” or “heart” emoji to a message) and choose “undo send” or “edit” from the menu that pops up. Then it’s done.

This is pretty good for users who want to tweak messages, change meet up plans or instantly correct typo errors. Though it’s quite helpful in situations that people do not want to regret, this new feature can also act as a cover up tool for all the accidental messages like “headache” to the boss, “let’s bunk the office” to the manager, “big-mouth” to a person who talks too much that goes unread for 15 minutes. So all in all it’s a remedy to all such gaffes.

Firstly, the receiver can see if the sender unsent or edited a message. And, if it is edited, they can see the old version if they tap on it. Secondly, it only works iMessage to iMessage. It won’t work at all if the sender was texting someone with an Android phone.

Consequently, it works if the other person has also updated to iOS 16. If the receiver is slow to update (or can’t because of having a phone older than the iPhone 8), the edits or undo send won’t work.

It also won’t work if someone is using their Mac computer or laptop to read iMessage. It may work in some future macOS update.

The latest feature is limited to new texts. The sender will only have two minutes to “undo send” a text, and 15 minutes to edit it.

The new update won’t fully save the user from committing crimes against the group chats at least for now. But in near future, when more people will update it, this feature will be a lot more useful.
