IHC issues show-cause notice to Imran Khan in contempt of court case
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Friday formally sent a show-cause notice to PTI Chairman Imran Khan in a contempt case.
The notice, issued by the IHC’s Registrar Office, states that Imran Khan made an insulting and threatening statement about the female judge, adding that the PTI chief’s remarks came when the case was being heard in the Islamabad High Court.
“It seems that Imran Khan has given this statement to influence the court proceeding and get favorable verdict,” the notice said and added that the PTI chief had tried to create hurdle in way of justice through his speech.
The show-cause notice had asked the PTI chairman to appear before the court on August 31, in a personal capacity and explain why contempt of court proceedings shouldn’t be initiated against him.
Earlier this month, a larger bench headed by Justice Mohsin Akhter Kayani and comprising of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Baber Sattar had ordered to serve a show-cause notice to PTI head after the PTI chief’s threatening remarks about a female judge and top police officials during his speech at F-9 Park Islamabad.
The IHC judges after consultation had decided to initiate contempt of court proceedings against him on a note of registrar’s office.
