Zilhaj moon not sighted, Eid-ul-Adha to be observed on July 10
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Wednesday announced that the Zilhaj moon could not be sighted in Pakistan, adding that Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Sunday (July 10).
Central Ruet-e-Hillal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced the decision at a press conference after the meeting of the committee.
The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Karachi and was attended by members of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Karachi, representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SPARCO, the Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Meetings of Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees also took place at their respective headquarters in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar.
Meanwhile, the Zilhaj moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia after which Hajj will begin on July 6 with Arafat Day on July 8.
The Eid-ul-Adha celebrations commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah.
