TOKYO: The first batch of this year’s mangoes from Pakistan have landed in Japan. The arrival has been met with joy not only by Pakistani expatriates but Japanese as well as people of other nationalities residing there.

Extremely popular due to its succulent taste, Japan’s import of mangoes has increased over the last two years. But the coronavirus-driven increase in prices, including air freight has resulted in an increase in prices. This is a source of costernation for importers as well as consumers.

The Pakistan embassy staff led by Charge d’Affaires Ismat Sial along with Commercial Officer Tahir Habib Cheema attended an event celebrating the arrival.
