Watch: How can Pakistan boost its economy with tourism?
Spending money and travelling go hand in hand. Whether that is money spent to book a hotel or an Airbnb or money spent on food and shopping, with tourism comes a natural boost to the exchequer of the country in question.
In fact, countries that heavily relied on tourism for their economies –Thailand for example– were worst hit by the travel restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic, than any other country.
Pakistan with its diverse terrain, the sea in the south and the mighty Himalayas, Karakoram and the Hindu Kush to the north, can totally be a tourist paradise.
Deserts, lakes, rivers and even forests, we have it all but what we lack is infrastructure for tourism, which makes it difficult to generate as much money as we can from this lucrative economic option.
Another reason why Pakistan lags behind is the lack of security for those who dare to venture here.
