Punjab government’s health chief Yasmin Rashid on Wednesday contracted the coronavirus for the second time this month, according to a provincial government spokesperson, Aaj News reported.

The spokesperson said the health minister, who had previously tested positive for the virus on January 4, has quarantined herself at home.

PTI leaders have lauded their ‘iron lady’ Yasmin for her “dedication and work” even in the state of her health. According to media reports, the Punjab health minister was working even when she was getting treated for cancer, prompting people from every field to appreciate her work.

Yasmin underwent breast cancer surgery at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in December 2020. As per reports, the surgery was successful. Many users on Twitter prayed for her recovery.

Moreover, National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has also contracted Covid-19 and quarantined himself at home, a spokesperson from NAB said.

Yasmin and Iqbal join the list of national leaders who have tested positive for Covid-19 recently, including opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre daily Covid update, as many as 467,698 cases were reported in Punjab. The provincial government has urged the people to get the necessary booster at the earliest.
