Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted on Twitter that PTI “made mistakes in 1st phase of KP LG elections” and Pakistani Twitterati has a lot to say about it.

Following PTI’s defeat in the first phase of the local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the prime minister said that “wrong candidate selection” was one of the major causes of the party’s failure.

The PM promised to oversee the second phase of PTI’s election strategy himself.

Disregarding the PM’s reason of PTI’s failure, many social media users somberly stated the real cause of defeat is ‘inflation.’

Others had a more hilarious take on the situation.

“Utter shambles, Khan sb is just rambling on like a 11-year old high on cough syrup,” said Twitter user Maimoona.

Twitterati didn’t fail to mention that this isn’t the first time PTI has made such a mistake.

However, not everyone took a critical stance. A few users appreciated the leader for being ‘introspective’ about their failure.

“A man who accepts defeat can rise and learn from mistakes,” said user Waqas Butt.

Imran Khan’s tweet had come after the Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl had won the most seats in K-P’s Local Government polls. According to the provincial results published by the Election Comission of Pakistan on Monday, for 39 out of the 63 tehsils, JUI-F won 15 seats, while their candidates were runner ups in many others.
