Newly appointed Rajasthan minister Rajendra Singh Gudha is being called out for comments made on Tuesday at a government camp in which he said he wanted roads to be as smooth as Katrina Kaif's cheeks.

The video has been widely shared and widely criticized.

The minister of state for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development was speaking to villagers in Jhunjhunu district when he was asked about the state of the area's roads. First he said that roads should be like the cheeks of Hema Malini but she is too old so he wants them to be like Katrina Kaif's cheeks.

The audience can be seen laughing, some clapping.

Gudha was among 15 ministers who took oath on Sunday and is a minister of state; he represents the Congress party.

His comments were slammed on Twitter for being sexist.

One wondered why issued had to be sexualized.

Another called for the minister to resign.

Another user wondered how these comments affected Gudha's family.

And one user said it reflected the mindset of politicians even those in Congress which is headed by a woman.

According to an article in Republic World, former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in 2005 said roads of Bihar would be 'as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks.'
